The reports contain summary and detailed actionable analysis so that the identified issues can be addressed without requiring additional time to investigate problems.
What makes the Impact Monitor reports so actionable? At the foundation is SolarWinds' advanced change analytics. When a change causes an error, it is the rules and objects that require fixing. Since most change detection systems cannot understand the meaning of the changes, the differences between updates relate to little more than a text comparison. This information is not sufficient to identify the root cause of a problem. SolarWinds' change analytics understand exactly how firewall behavior has changed and translate that to the specific rule and object changes that are responsible for the new behavior. Traffic data alone does not provide sufficient remediation information and notifications from standard management consoles cannot capture the side effects of changes.
When using the shared database architecture, Network Managers, Security/Compliance Groups and Engineers can utilize the Change Monitor and configure the reports that are required for each group separately. Configurations are updated on a continuous basis and reports are automatically distributed to the relevant authorized groups. Where needed, the details can be suppressed so that executive summary information is only presented.
